A three phase induction motor is an AC-type induction motor that operates on three three-phase supplies like a single-phase induction motor, where it needs a single-phase supply to run. An electromagnetic field is generated by the three three-phase supply currents in the stator winding which will induce torque in the rotor winding of a three-phase induction motor in the presence of a magnetic field.
A 3 Phase induction motor has two main parts –
- Stator
- Rotor
