MULTIMETER HISTORY :
The first device that can be considered the predecessor of the multimeter was in 1820. That instrument was the galvanometer. These were used to measure resistance and voltage using a Wheatstone bridge.
These galvanometers were bulky and delicate.
In 1920, a British Post Office engineer, Donald Macadie, is credited with inventing the very first multimeter. so he created one tool that could measure amperes, volts, and ohms. Leading to the product being named the AVOmeter.
What is Multimeter?
A Multimeter is an electronic measuring instrument that is mainly used to measure the three basic electrical characteristics of voltage, current, and resistance as well as wiring industries for continuity test.
Multimeter can be used for testing batteries, household wiring, electric motors, and power supplies.
Most of the engineers and technicians in the electronic and electrical field, know the measurement device namely a multimeter
The essential parts of the multimeter mainly include a display, power source, probes, and controls

Multimeter Function & Use :
Basic types of multimeter are mainly used to measure amperage, resistance, voltage, checks continuity and a complete circuit can be tested like the following.
- Resistance in Ohms
- Capacity in Farads
- The temperature in Fahrenheit/ Celsius
- AC Voltage & Amperage
- Inductance Henrys
- DC Voltage & Amperage
- Frequency in Hz
- Conductance in Siemens
- Decibels
- Duty Cycle
- Continuity test
